Some of my favorite pattern designs are inspired by the yarns they use. In this case, I had the pleasure of trying out the new Mainstreet Yarns from Love Crochet. Their Shiny & Soft collection features 30 colors of 100% acrylic yarns that are washer- and dryer-friendly. The yarn comes in large 7.1 oz. balls that are only $4.29 each, so large projects won’t break the bank. The yarn itself has a light sheen and is incredibly soft. My favorite thing about Mainstreet Yarns is how effortlessly the colors go together.

The Mainstreet Yarns Shiny & Soft collection comes in so many lovely shades, including neutrals, brights, and pastels. My care package from Love Crochet included all 30 colors, so I started my design by separating the yarns into their color families. I fell in love with the pastels, using Just White, Tweed Gray, Dusty Pink, Almond White, Light Purple, and Baby Pink for my sample. From there, I picked a few of my favorite Tunisian crochet stitches, did some swatching, and let this pattern take shape.

The Sweet Stripes Baby Blanket is the perfect project for the Tunisian crocheter who is looking to take their skills to the next level. The simple stitch combinations and easy striping make this a fun heirloom project. Adjust colors and section lengths to easily customize this blanket’s size and overall look. If I were making it again, I would love to see it in a solid gray or heathered rose color. I really hope you enjoy it and I can’t wait to see how you personalize my newest pattern.
